Switchboards Engineered for
Mechanical Services

Robust control boards for HVAC systems, pumping stations and mechanical plant rooms – designed in close collaboration with mechanical services builders and integrators. Backed by our technical team from spec to commissioning.

Solution Intro

Engineered with the People
Who Build Mechanical Services.

Mechanical services switchboards (MSSB) are among the most technically demanding panels we build. They need to handle the full complexity of HVAC, pumping and building services control – often integrating with BMS, VSD drives and third-party monitoring systems. NAW Controls has been building these panels in-house for decades and we know what it takes to get them right.

We work directly with mechanical services builders and system integrators from the early stages of specification. Our engineers review the mechanical scope, understand the control requirements and produce a full drawings package for approval before a single component is ordered. That upstream engagement is what prevents problems on site.

Every MSSB we build is tested in our Thomastown facility before dispatch. We document the test results, supply commissioning notes and remain available to our clients through the commissioning phase. Our job isn’t done when the board leaves the factory.

Integrated Systems Approach

Built for Operational Excellence

A distribution board is the nerve centre of your electrical installation. When it’s engineered properly, it protects your equipment, simplifies maintenance and supports your operation for decades. NAW Controls designs each board as part of a complete electrical system, not an isolated component.

NAW Controls offers a comprehensive electrical solution integrating power distribution, control and automation systems to ensure efficient, reliable and safe operation across both industrial and commercial environments.

Together, these integrated solutions create a scalable and future-ready infrastructure that supports operational excellence and sustainable energy use.

Power Distribution

Power distribution solutions are designed todeliver stable and optimised electrical supply, incorporating switchgear, protection systems and energy management to maintain continuityand minimise downtime.

Control & Automation

Control and automation solutions enable intelligent operation of equipment through advanced monitoring, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and real-time data analytics.

Variable Speed Drives

Variable speed drives (VSDs) enhance energy efficiency and process precision by regulating motor speed to match operational demand, reducing wear and power consumption.

Machine Control Systems

Machine control systems provide accurate coordination, synchronisation and performance optimisation of machinery, improving productivity and ensuring consistent output quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Mechanical Boards

We design and build boards for HVAC control, chiller plant, cooling towers, pumping stations, building pressurisation, car park ventilation and general mechanical plant rooms. If it involves motor control, variable speed drives or building services integration, we’ve built it.

Yes. We regularly incorporate variable speed drives into our mechanical boards – either mounting them internally or providing interface wiring for externally mounted drives. Our team can advise on the best configuration based on drive size, heat dissipation and installation environment.

We use our internal heat rise verification software to confirm that the enclosure selected can safely handle the heat generated by the installed components. This is particularly important for boards in enclosed plant rooms with limited ventilation and meets the requirements of AS/NZS 61439

Yes. We design mechanical boards with BMS integration in mind – including appropriate communication interfaces, relay outputs and analogue signals to suit your BMS controller. We work with the BMS integrator during design to confirm the interface requirements before manufacture.

Yes. We have extensive experience supplying mechanical boards for high-rise commercial and residential buildings – including boards for rooftop plant rooms, basement hydraulics and mid-level mechanical floors. We understand the access constraints and design accordingly.

We supply a full documentation package including engineered drawings, wiring diagrams, test reports, component datasheets and commissioning notes. All documentation is provided in digital format and can be issued to the mechanical contractor, electrical contractor and BMS integrator as required.
