Residual Current Devices (RCD)

Shop residual current devices (RCD) for earth leakage protection across single and multi-pole circuits, helping prevent electric shock and fire risk. Trusted by electrical contractors Australia-wide.

N.A.W. Controls’ Residual Current Devices detect earth leakage current and disconnect the circuit before it can cause electric shock or start a fire. Unlike an RCBO, an RCD provides earth leakage protection only, and is typically paired with a separate MCB for overload and short-circuit protection on the same circuit or group of circuits.

Available in 2 and 4-pole configurations to suit single and three-phase installations, our RCD range is selected to meet relevant AS/NZS wiring and protection standards. They’re a cost-effective option where a single device is protecting several circuits with shared overload protection already in place.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

An RCD detects earth leakage only, while an RCBO adds overload and short-circuit protection in the same device. RCDs are typically paired with separate MCBs, while RCBOs combine both functions.

This depends on the RCD’s rated current and local wiring rules; grouping too many circuits under one RCD can increase nuisance tripping. Our team can help you plan circuit grouping.

2-pole RCDs suit single-phase circuits, while 4-pole RCDs are used on three-phase circuits. Match the pole configuration to your supply type.

Yes, our RCD range is selected to meet relevant AS/NZS wiring and protection standards for Australian switchboards.

Yes, our team can help match RCD sensitivity (typically 30mA for personal protection) to your application and relevant wiring rules.
