ABS enclosures are lightweight, cost-effective and corrosion-resistant, making them well suited to general electrical and instrumentation use. IP ratings classify protection against solids and liquids. IP55 handles light dust and low-pressure water, IP56 offers stronger water resistance, IP65 ensures full dust protection, and IP66 withstands high-pressure water jets – the higher the rating, the better the enclosure performs in harsh conditions.
Do enclosures need ventilation or gland entries?
Ventilation or cable gland entries are needed when heat dissipation, cable routing or pressure equalisation is required. Many enclosures support custom cut-outs or accessories so this can be added without compromising the enclosure’s IP rating.
Are hinged or screw-lid enclosures better?
Hinged lids suit applications needing frequent access, such as control panels or monitoring equipment. Screw-lid designs provide secure sealing and are preferred for areas with minimal access needs or where tight, reliable protection is the priority.
